You guys were impressive. That was like a swat team - in / out / job finished.
As I told you, it was a little more of a job than I was initially prepared for; I appreciate your patience with my situation - and thanks for not wasting my resources on a band aid, but instead bringing us a step forward toward our kitchen rehab.

Based on list recommendations, I called Howard Oven and he was here in 2 days, fixed one overhead light, replaced a wall fixture with a much more appropriate light (and beautiful to boot!), plus fixed the basement overhead and a wall outlet. All in about four hours! They were careful with our indoor cat, very clean and very easy to have around while they were working. Plus, when Howard went out for a part and the store did not have it like they said they did when he called ahead, he called me to let me know what the delay was and when I could expect him back.

Howard Oven, Belmont resident and Master Electrician (and someone we met through Belmont's Boy Scout Troop 304 when both our sons were in it) did excellent electrical work on our home.
Small projects (replacing exterior lights, interior lights, repairing old equipment) were handled quickly and efficiently.
Large project: we had Mr. Oven redo our electrical panel in the basement which needed to be upgraded from fuses to circuit breakers (50 year old house--had never been properly updated). He did an excellent job on that with minimal 'power off' time during the 2 days of installation. We haven't had a problem since.
Also, he gave us very good advice on products and strategies for future projects including a major bath renovation we had already booked with another local firm.
Cost? Not the highest and not the lowest. His prices seem very fair to me, and the cost of doing the new electrical panel was a little bit less than what our Bathroom Renovation contractor said he would have had to charge us if they did it.
